Naomi Joy Nelson, known professionally as Naomi Joy, is a recording artist, saxophonist, author, television host, and Grammy-nominated music educator.
Based in Central Florida, she shares joy, hope, and inspiration through music, media, and faith. Her artistry blends gospel, worship, smooth jazz, contemporary, and country influences. Naomi has appeared on national television, including ABC’s Wonderful World of Disney: Magical Holiday Celebration, and has performed alongside acclaimed artists and at events throughout Florida and beyond. She is the creator and host of The Naomi Joy Show and author of My Joy Journey, continuing her mission of sharing the joy worldwide.

As a trailblazer in education, Naomi dedicated more than 15 years to Orange County Public Schools and made history as the first female Band Director in the historic legacy of Jones High School (est. 1895). Now retired from education, her honors include:

Naomi is a proud alumna of Florida A&M University, where she attended on a full Presidential Scholarship. While at FAMU, she was a member of the world-renowned Marching “100” Band and made history as the first female Saxophone Section Leader and the first female Band President in the program’s distinguished legacy. She later earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education and is now an endorsed artist with BARI Woodwinds and Dukoff Mouthpieces. She is also the author of “My Joy Journey,” a heartfelt testimony of faith, resilience, and purpose.

Expanding her artistry into country music, Naomi recently released her heartfelt country single, “I Believe God,” dedicated to the memory of her late father, Willie Nelson. The release was recognized by SSM Nashville, leading to an invitation to record with their label and participate in autograph signings during CMA Fest in Nashville, Tennessee. Her country sound carries the warmth, storytelling, and spirit of her Louisiana heritage while remaining rooted in faith and inspiration.
